Why is it so hard to find infused brownies, cookies, and Rice Krispie treats?
These forms of edibles have been popular in the traditional and medical markets for decades, but the reason they’re so difficult to find in Washington dispensaries is because they require dairy, and it’s actually illegal to infuse dairy products in Washington (WAC 314-55-077).
There are still a handful of cannabis processors that make [non-dairy] cookies, brownies, or Rice Krispie treats, but they tend to be expensive and therefore don’t sell very well. Overall the market has shifted towards smaller, more shelf-stable edibles like gummies and beverage shots.
