Who From the Soil Farms Actually Is

From the Soil was started by the Parent family (dad Artie and brothers AJ and Andy) after Washington passed recreational I-502 and offered clearer legal footing than what they’d been navigating in California. They settled in Elma for practical reasons: a city council that was genuinely supportive of the industry, affordable land, and room to build something real. What they built was two state of the art glass houses on 18 acres, growing cannabis under a blend of natural sunlight and supplemental HPS lighting, in living soil fed with sea kelp, bat guano, worm castings, and molasses.

The part that sets From the Soil apart from most producers their size is the closed loop commitment. Every product they sell contains cannabis they grew themselves on that farm. They don’t buy flower from other growers, and they don’t outsource their processing. AJ handles cultivation and strain development (he loves finding unique genetics), Andy runs the growing operation day to day, and Artie handles marketing and packaging. The farm employs over 80 people in Elma, which is a meaningful presence for a small town in Grays Harbor County.
